Do you always opt for the same pen every time you go to jot something down? Be it a to do list at work, shopping list, birthday card, or even a note for your significant other, most of us have a favourite pen – one that just feels better in our hands, makes our writing look great, or flows over the page. Whatever the reason we opt for it, the pen we choose says more than you may think about us.

We asked our Head of Marketing, Chloe, to delve into what the colour pen we opt for, as well as the style, says about us…

Black may be a traditional colour – one that goes with everything and exudes an air of sophistication, but there’s more to it than that.

If you always opt for a black pen, you’re more likely to be a go getter who prefers control and structure in your life. Not one to dive into something without thinking it through, you’re always the planner of your group and are the one to organise events – something which works well with your artistic flair.

Blue may be seen as a softer version of a black pen, but if you go for a blue pen, you couldn’t be more different than your black pen friends. Much more relaxed with life, you’re happy to go with the flow and see where life takes you.

Empathy is one of your strengths, and you love nothing more then spending hours chatting with your friends and family, however this can mean that you take on other people’s emotions, and usually need time to recharge after a long period of social activity.

Hello perfectionist …that’s probably not a surprise to you if you love nothing more than scribbling away with a purple pen! Always aware of your surroundings, you probably see everything as a work in progress.

You crave security in life – be it in the form of emotional or physical – but that’s okay because you’re a people person and feel your best self when you can bounce off others.

Pink is romantic and whimsical, and so are you. You’ve probably been told you have an easy-going, warm personality who always sees the glass half full.

You’re caring and kind to every living thing and are always there for friends in their time of need, but you do make sure to take time for yourself; you know selfcare is an important part of your day. But that’s not to say you don’t like to let your hair down and enjoy everything that life has to offer when the feeling takes you.

A strong, sturdy companion that’ll always be there, the biro is the backbone of the pen world – is there anything a biro won’t write on? If you’re a fan of a standard biro, you’re a no-frills kind of person, who values function over style.

You relate to simplicity and are an open book and can’t understand why others aren’t like this. People who have hidden motives and hide parts of their personality aren’t for you; you pride yourself on always being honest – after all, integrity is everything to you.

Smooth operator! Gel pens flow over the page like nothing else, and this appeals to you. You’re not one to be drawn into drama or arguments, instead you’re all about the quiet life with little hassle.

You’re young at heart, a total softie, with bundles of energy. You love nothing more than getting all your friends together for a knees up, drawing energy from company. You’re always the hostess, using your outgoing nature to make everyone feel at ease – wherever they are.

Do you prefer a fountain pen over anything else? If so, we bet you love history – be it history books, drama, or just gazing at pictures from almost forgotten times.
