Adjustable desks are a welcome addition to many offices, either at work or in your home office. Not just your average work surface, these desks have the capability of extending upwards, creating longer table legs so you can stand and work at your workstation. This is ideal for those who get a bit achey or uncomfortable during the working day, or who prefer a change of position and posture to keep their motivation up.

 

Our adjustable desks come in a range of different colours in both table-tops and legs, so you can fit your standing desk’s finish to your room’s decor. However, if you’re not looking for a completely new desk but still want the option of elevation, we also supply des risers and laptop stands. These sit on top of your current, standard desk and can rise up too. Their legs are collapsible, so you can either use them to slightly raise your laptop or to completely change up your workstation. This means they’re also easily portable, so you can fold them away and store them at the end of the day and even transport them between home and the office should you need to!


Are adjustable desks good for you?
Adjustable desks are great for your mental and physical health. When changing from a sitting desk to a standing desk, you increase blood flow to the brain to improve your concentration, creativity, mental outlook, and productivity.
It’s been shown that sitting down for too long - and we mean hours at a time - is bad for your health. Not only does it contribute to muscle stiffness in the short-term, but it can also put you at risk of health conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and blood flow problems, not to mention your posture.


Sit and stand desks, or even the humble desk riser, combat this by letting you stand up properly to work. This will break up the day, too, but will also give your muscles and blood vessels a much needed stretch and your heart a good opportunity to work a little harder than it otherwise would in order to increase blood flow. In the short-term and the long-term, standing desks can improve your health and wellbeing in the workplace both mentally and physically.


How do adjustable desks work?
This depends on the desk you choose! We have adjustable desks with motorised frames, so at the touch of a button your worktop will slowly and smoothly rise until you’re comfortable with its height. Or, if you choose one of our desk risers to use on top of your worktop, you can simply fold these up to adjust their height or use the levers to elevate and lower it. Both options are really simple to use with easy assembly, so you shouldn’t struggle getting your adjustable desk to work for you.


How long should you stand at your desk?
Really, you should stand whenever you feel the need to, especially if you feel your muscles are stiffening or your posture is suffering. However, a good rule of thumb to follow is for every 1-2 hours you spend sitting down, you should then spend 1 hour standing. This ensures that you’re keeping your body moving sufficiently and subtly, boosting your mental wellbeing and increasing your blood flow.
